KATHMANDU: UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has concluded his four-day official visit to Nepal.

His visit included meetings with various high-ranking Nepali officials, such as President Ram Chandra Paudel, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and leaders from different political parties, including Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and UML Chair KP Sharma Oli.

Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka bid farewell to him at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) upon his departure.

During his visit, Guterres engaged in high-level discussions with Nepali government officials and witnessed various development projects in the country.

During his visit, Guterres also explored Nepal’s cultural and natural treasures, with visits to Patan Durbar Square, a dinner hosted by Prime Minister Dahal at Hotel Soaltee, and meetings with key figures like National Assembly Speaker Ganesh Timilsina and Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha.

The UN Secretary General’s itinerary extended to the Everest region and Annapurna base camp, with an overnight stay in Pokhara, as well as a visit to Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha.

One of the highlights of his visit was his address to both houses of the Federal Parliament, emphasizing Nepal’s significance in regional and global affairs.
