Cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane’s case is being heard today (Monday) again.
Judges Sapna Pradhan Malla and Kumar Chudal are watching the case that was heard on Sunday, so the hearing is going to be held in the same court today.
After Sandeep, accused in the minor rape case, was released on bail by the Patan High Court, the Attorney General’s Office appealed to the Supreme Court, demanding that he be kept in custody pending trial.
Similarly, Sandeep Lamichhane also filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding that he be allowed to go foreign lands to play.
The petition filed by the Attorney General’s Office against the order of the High Court to release Lamichhane, who was remanded in custody pending trial by the Kathmandu District Court, and the petition filed by Lamichhane demanding to be allowed to go abroad to play cricket were heard in closed court on Sunday.
Sanjeev Regmi and Somkant Bhandari, co-advocates of the Attorney General’s office argued that the High Court’s order to release him on bail was flawed.
They demanded that Sandeep should be kept in custody pending trial.
