Nepal made a historic win by defeating Namibia with two wickets in the ongoing one day international (ODI) tri-series under the ICC World Cup Cricket League 2 at the TU Cricket Ground on Tuesday.

Chasing a 286-run target set by Namibia, Nepal reached it losing eight wickets in 47.4 overs.  

Kushal Bhurtel topped the score with 115 runs including 10 fours and four sixes off 111 balls. Similarly, Rohit Paudel made 72 runs including seven fours and three sixes off 76 deliveries while Sundeep Jora contributed 28 runs.

In reply, Ruben Trumpelmann and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton claimed three wickets each while Tangeni Lungameni, Bernard Scholtz grabbed one wicket each.

Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Namiba set a mammoth 286-run target for home team Nepal in the tri-series under the ICC World Cricket League 2 held at TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.

Namibia’s Michael van Lingen topped the score with 133 runs studded with nine fours and five sixes off 137 deliveries. Similarly, Gerhard Erasmus made 56 runs off 79 balls while Zane Green hit 34 runs.

In reply, Karan KC grabbed five wickets while Sandeep Lamichhane took three wickets for Nepal.

Namibia, Scotland and Nepal are taking part in the tri-nation series. Nepal would play second match against Scotland on February 17.

Nepal are in the sixth position in the series by securing 18 scores from 24 matches while Namibia have secured third position with 37 scores from 30 matches.
