The Election Commission (EC) has sought clarifications from 35 people including Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Chairman of the ruling CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.
The EC has asked for an explanation from the head of the government to the ward chairperson for carrying out activities contrary to the code of conduct issued for the House of Representatives and Province Assembly elections.
The commission informed that it has sent letters to 35 people seeking clarifications on the violation of the code that took place since last October 13.
According to Commission sources, clarifications have been sought from the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers to the ‘viral’ ward president Mukund Rizal of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
The explanation that started from former Prime Minister Prachanda has reached the Prime Minister’s Office, Urban Development Minister Metmani Chaudhary, CPN Unified Socialist Leader Krishna Kumar Shrestha ‘Kisan’, Janamat Party President CK Raut.
According to sources, the commission asked 35 people, including Pukar Bam, a member of the House of Representatives from the Rastriya Swatantra Party in Kathmandu-1, Shishir Khanal, the candidate of the same party in Kathmandu-6, and Mukund Rizal, the ward chariman of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-16.
According to sources, the Commission has asked the Prime Minister’s Office for an explanation based on a news published online.
In the news, details were mentioned that the caretaker government had passed long-term plans.
Similarly, after Urban Development Minister Choudhary reached home district Dang and personally distributed relief materials including rice in the name of the flood victims there, an explanation was asked.
Chaudhary has been nominated as a member of the House of Representatives on behalf of the Unified Socialist in Dang-1 by the ruling coalition.
