KATHMANDU: With the start of Dashain festival, consumption of petroleum products has increased suddenly. The consumption of diesel and petrol has increased by 75 percent with the start of Dashain festival as compared to previous time, according to Nepal Oil Corporation. Earlier, 2.2 million liters petrol used to be consumed in a day. Now, consumption of petrol has reached 3.5 million litres daily in recent days. KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) is hearing the writ petitions filed against the President’s denial to authenticate the Citizenship Bill today (Friday). The writ has been scheduled for today. Advocate Sunil Ranjan Singh, Sarita Thapa, Sagar Baral, Dev Sharma and others filed the writ against the President for not certifying the Bill. KATHMANDU: A writ has been filed at the Supreme Court (SC) against President Bidya Devi Bhandari. A writ was filed in the SC against the President for not authenticating the Citizenship Bill as per the Constitutional provision. Sunil Ranjan Singh and others filed a petition saying that President Bhandari committed a “violation of parliamentary supremacy and the Constitution” by rejecting the citizenship bill, which was passed by both Houses of the Federal Parliament. SC Spokesperson Bimal Paudel confirmed the filing of the writ.
KATHMANDU: Seven people died in a road accident in Jurikhet of Bhimfedi Rural Municipality Ward No. 6, Makwanpur this afternoon. Police Inspector Pratima Shrestha of the Area Police Office Bhimfedi informed that seven people died when the passenger bus (Ba3Ka 7858) coming from Kathmandu to Hetauda met with an accident. Three women, two men and two children are among the dead. Of them, six died on the spot and one on the way to the hospital for treatment. The identity of the persons who died in the accident has not yet been known. The bus was reportedly carrying 35 passengers.
